become more powerful, their ability to do more has increased. In recent
times, flagship smartphones are featuring almost 4GB of DDR4 RAM which
is equivalent to the RAM size on a normal laptop. While you may be using
a 1080p Television at home, the screen resolution on the top tier
smartphones have moved onto 2K. Not just that, the camera quality is
coming nearer to DSLRs with each new smartphone. However, all these
phone do come at premium price. So, here are the top 10 phones you can
buy in India.
1.Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Samsung is the first company to bring its flagship smartphone to
India. The phone maker has updated the specification sheet and refined
the whole glass and metal design it introduced last year with the Galaxy
S6 range. Also, the phone is now waterproof and allows microSD cards
for upto 200GB.
2.Apple iPhone 6S
The
iPhone 6s is ‘the best smartphone Apple currently makes. It has
everything, you would require from a flagship phone. A good display,
nice design, great performance and a very good camera. While the phone
looks and feels similar to the iPhone 6, the biggest difference comes in
the form of the camera. The 12MP camera offers one of the best image
quality we have seen from a smartphone. Moreover, the new camera on the
iPhone lets the phone shoot video in 4K. Another big update is the
display, which now gets a 3D touch display. It is a pressure sensitive
display and offers functionalities like peek and preview into an app
without switching to it. The iPhone 6s is the fastest smartphone out
there in terms of pure performance across intensive tasks like gaming
and multitasking with heavy apps. Having said that, battery life is
still average at best.

3.Samsung Galaxy S7
Just
like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the Galaxy S7 is also powered by an
Exynos 8890 SoC and 3GB of RAM. What makes it different is the screen
size and the overall design of the phone. Unlike the S7 Edge, the Galaxy
S7 has a simpler candybar design, with materials used still being glass
and metal. The 5.1-inch display is a Super AMOLED panel with
2560x1440-pixel resolution. This compact flagship smartphone offers the
same camera setup as the S7 Edge, and hence, the image quality you get
from the 12MP Dual Pixel camera is great. The 3000mAh battery will last
you for a day on average, but if you happen to be a heavy user, the
Galaxy S7 supports fast charging and wireless Qi charging standards.
4.LG G5
LG
launched its flagship smartphone, LG G5, which is also the world’s
first modular smartphone. This is also the first flagship smartphone
from LG to offer metal build and a fingerprint sensor. The phone houses
the best specifications currently available on a flagship-class
smartphone. The LG G5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. There
is 4GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage, along with microSD card
support of up to 200GB. The smaller, 5.3-inch display is a delight to
look at, and it offers 2560x1440-pixel resolution screen resolution. The
colours of the display are well balanced. The removable battery is
small, but lasts for a day. LG will also be selling various accessories
under its Friends ecosystem for the LG G5, including a camera grip with
extra battery, an external AMP and more.
5.OnePlus 3
The
OnePlus 3 is here and has grabbed the fourth position on our ‘best
phones to buy’ quite easily. It is an all rounder and offers the best
performance to price ratio, as long as flagship smartphones are
concerned. This is the first time OnePlus has made an all metal
smartphone and while the phone is reminiscent of the HTC one M9, it is
still a very good design. The device is powered by one of the most
powerful SoCs in the market, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The 16MP camera on
the back does not disappoint either and offers PDAF as well as OIS
support. Like most flagship devices, the battery isn't that great but it
still manages to go on for a whole day on a single charge.
6.HTC 10
HTC’s
latest HTC 10 is another great phone to look for if you are buying a
flagship smartphone. The HTC 10 features the tasteful HTC design with
some of the latest gen hardware to boot. Powered by the well regarded,
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, the HTC 10, is able to keep up with the
best of the best. The OIS-assisted 12MP Ultrapixel rear camera does a
fantastic job most of the times and you also get OIS support on the
front facing camera. HTC has also mastered the 2K display and the
5.2-inch LCD5 2K panel looks beautiful from all angles. However, the
best part is the audio quality, which with its 24-bit built in DAC is
able to offer the best music quality there is on a modern day
smartphone.
7.Huawei Nexus 6P
Made
by Huawei, the Nexus 6P features a premium aluminium build, and offers
storage variants of up to 128GB. Huawei has equipped the smartphone with
a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 2560x1440-pixel resolution. It is
powered by a well-optimised Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, offering smooth
performance. There is a 12.3MP camera at the back, which offers
laser-assisted autofocus and shoots really good photographs. Adding to
that are the fast fingerprint sensor, an 8MP front camera, a 3450mAh
non-removable battery and the goodness of Android Marshmallow the way it
is meant to be, and the Huawei Nexus 6P is one of the most complete
Android phones out there.
8.Xiaomi Mi5
Xiaomi’s
two-year-long wait for the Mi 5 poses a massive upgrade over its
previous flagship smartphone in India, the Mi 4. Xiaomi has given it a
complete makeover, fusing an incredibly ergonomic body with glass and
metal chassis. It has a 5.15-inch display that offers a very
well-balanced colour gamut with Full HD resolution. The device is
powered by Qualcomm’s present generation chipset, the Snapdragon 820.
Only the 3GB RAM-32GB storage variant has been launched in India, which
offers fluent performance. The 16MP primary camera has 4-axis OIS, and
is a very fast camera module. Also, the 3000mAh battery should last you
through the entire day out, comfortably. We just hope, that Xiaomi will
bring the more powerful Mi 5 smartphone in the coming months to India.
That phone features 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
9.Huawei P9
The
Huawei P9 at first glance seems like a smaller version of the Nexus 6P
with a much refined design. In reality though, the P9 is a much better
smartphone than the Nexus 6P. The best feature on this phone is the dual
camera setup. The 12MP + 12MP camera setup is able to provide superb
image quality and one of the best bokeh effects you may get from a
smartphone. Powering the phone is a Kirin 955 SoC made by Huawei itself.
Combined with 4GB of RAM, the phone provides good overall performance.
On top of that, the build quality and design of the phone is quite good
as well.
The
Note 5 from Samsung is another great choice but the phone really shines
when productivity is required on the go. This last year’s Samsung
flagship still one of the fastest and productive smartphone around. It
features a 5.7-inch, bright, 2K AMOLED display which offers good viewing
angles and is big enough to be used with the S-Pen (stylus). Powered by
Samsung’s last gen flagship the Exynos 7420 SoC, it is still one of the
most fastest phone in the market. The larger footprint allows for a
larger battery and the phone can easily last you day, even if you are a
power user. The 16MP rear camera is nothing short of great, which offers
sharp images and good looking 4K video recording.
